• Judge Mitchell Scoggins, formerly Probate Court of Bartow County, was appointed senior judge of the Probate Courts by Gov. Nathan Deal effective August 1, 2016.

• On August 2, 2016, Judge Todd Markle, Superior Court, Atlanta Judicial Circuit; Judge Shawn LaGrua, Superior Court, Atlanta Judicial Circuit; and Judge Emory Palmer, Superior Court, Coweta Judicial Circuit, were sworn in by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve on the Georgia Child Support Commission.

• Judge Ray C. Smith, State Court of Bryan County, was sworn in by Gov. Nathan Deal on August 4, 2016, to replace retiring Judge Jack E. Carney.  Judge Smith most recently served as the Solicitor-General of Bryan County prior to running for State Court and served as State Court Judge in the early 1980s. Mr. Donald Montgomery fills the vacated seat of Solicitor-General.

 • On August 18, 2016, Gov. Nathan Deal administered the oath of office to Judge Ronald C. Goulart (below, center) as Catoosa County State Court Judge and Mr. Douglas R. Woodruff as Solicitor-General.  The Catoosa County State Court was created by legislation in 2015.
