December Judicial Council Meeting

Members heard reports from the Policy and Legislative Committee, voted on two Standing Committee on Court Reporting Matters motions, and heard from the Ad Hoc Committee on Process Servers. Rep. Chuck Efstration, Ms. Christine Butcher, State Bar of Georgia, and Mr. Tyler Mashburn, Legislative Liaison for the JC/AOC, spoke about the upcoming Legislative Session.

Today's meeting was a farewell of sorts to Chief Justice Thompson who retires on December 31, 2016. Chief Justice Thompson was thanked for his service to the Judicial Council and the Georgia judiciary by each of the trial court councils in their reports and presented a framed print that was signed by Judicial Council members and JC/AOC staff.

Judges of the appellate and trial courts at all levels are represented on the Council, as is a representative of the State Bar of Georgia. For the agenda and meeting materials, please click here.
