Judicial Council hosts reception for lawyer-legislators

On February 28, 2014, the Judicial Council of Georgia hosted a reception to honor Georgia’s lawyer-legislators.  Held in the appellate rotunda of the State Judicial Building, the event allowed the state’s judiciary leadership to meet legislators and express appreciation to the attorneys who serve in the Georgia General Assembly.  Lawyer-legislators and legislative staff attorneys were invited to the lunchtime meet-and-greet.
alt“This reception gave the judges of the Judicial Council an opportunity to meet, on an informal basis, those lawyer-legislators who know how the legislation they work so hard to craft will affect the courts,” said Ms Marla S. Moore, AOC Director.
Among the attendees were several committee chairs and their staff.  Likewise, the Judiciary was well-represented.  Justices and Court of Appeals judges were joined by several trial court judges from the Judicial Council.
This reception is intended to be an annual event supporting understanding and cooperation between the branches, and is among the efforts being made to support the Judicial Council strategic plan priority initiative to engage the General Assembly.
