In Memoriam

Ms. Rhonda Payne, Clerk, Superior Court of Douglas County, died on March 17. Ms. Payne was appointed as Superior Court Clerk in 2007. She was subsequently elected twice to the position.
Senior Judge H. Lamar Knight of Carrollton died on May 27, 2013.  Judge Knight was elected as superior court judge in the Coweta Judicial Circuit in 1960, a position he held until his retirement in 1981.   Judge Knight served in the US Navy during World War II, after which he earned a law degree from the University of Georgia in 1949.
Senior Judge Edward E. Carriere, Jr., of Decatur died on June 2, 2013, after a battle with cancer.  Judge Carriere, a Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law graduate, was appointed judge of the State Court of DeKalb County in 1998.  He assumed senior status upon his retirement in 2010.
Senior Judge William M. Towson of Dublin died on June 13, 2013.  Judge Towson served in the Georgia General Assembly before becoming the judge of the State Court of Laurens County in 1969. He was appointed to the Superior Court bench in 1977 and retired from that position in 2001.

Judge Daniel P. Camp of Carrollton died on July 9, 2013, after a battle with cancer.  Judge Camp had served as Juvenile Court Judge in the Coweta Judicial Circuit since 1996.  He served in the US Army, retiring from service with the rank of Captain in 1978.
