In Memoriam - August 2018

Judge Robert WaltherSenior Judge Robert Walther (left) of Rome died on May 17, 2018. Judge Walther, a World War II US Navy veteran, served as Superior Court Judge in the Rome Judicial Circuit from 1980 until his retirement in 2004. Judge Walther earned his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law and served as County Attorney and District Attorney prior to becoming a judge.

Former Judge Randolph Michael, Jr.  of Rome died on May 17, 2018. Elected first as Justice of the Peace in the City of Rome, Judge Michael was then elected as Chief Magistrate of Floyd County, a position he held until 1984.

Judge Lew S. Barrow of Fortson, GA, died on June 10, 2018. A practicing attorney for 40 years, Judge Barrow served in District Attorney offices in the Alapaha and Chattachoochee Judicial Circuits prior to being appointed Magistrate in Harris County.

Judge Rodney GibsonSenior Judge Rodney Gibson (left) of Jasper died on June 16, 2018. Judge Gibson served as Probate Judge of Pickens County for 36 years prior to his retirement in 2012, after which he served as Senior Judge.

Judge T. Michael Martin of Fayetteville died on June 20, 2018. Judge Martin served as Municipal Court Judge in Fayetteville for 23 years.
