Profile: JC/AOC Staffer Ji Zhang

JC/AOC Staffer Ji Zhang recently traveled to her hometown on Shengze, Shouzhou in China. She shared some photos of her adventures and answered some questions.


Please tell us a little about your background.  Where did you grow up?  What’s your educational background?

Ji ZhangI grow up in Shengze, Shouzhou which is a small town near Shanghai, China. My hometown is famous for silk textile industry and Su style cuisine. 

I went to Yangzhou Medical University and graduated with Bachelor of Medicine degree. After 6 months internship at Liver Cancer Institute, Shanghai Medical University, I worked at the Department of Internal Medicine, Shanghai Xinle Hospital. I met my husband at the Liver Cancer Institute and got married in 1996.

Zunyan Dai, my husband, decided to pursue his Ph. D. degree in the US. In 1998, we moved to Columbus, Ohio, and studied computer science at Franklin University. With my transferred credit hours, I was able to receive my Bachelor of Computer Science degree in 18 months. I worked at Center for Human Resource Research, The Ohio State University from 2001 to 2017 as a Sr. system developer.

How long have you been with the JC/AOC?

I have been with JC/AOC since Nov 1st, 2017.

What is your assignment within IT?

My assignment within IT is to maintain The Child Support Georgia Judicial Exchange (GAJE) e-Filing System which includes troubleshooting, updating GAJE to keep up with technology trends, and generating a monthly report.


How do you spend your weekends?

My daughter, Eleanor Dai, 21 is a senior undergraduate student at The Ohio State University. My son, Alex Dai, 17, is a senior at Chattahoochee High School. With two grown-up kids, I can finally enjoy my own life.

Besides cooking and cleaning, I go to Yoga exercise and Taiji classes at weekend. I am also in a Chinese choir group, we sing together every Sunday night.

You recently travelled to China. Can you tell us a little about that trip?

All my relatives are in Shanghai and Shengze. I try to visit them as often as possible. We dined out and went to a circus show. I tried to catch up what’s going on their lives. It was fun to watching the hustle and bustle of city life in Shanghai, beautiful fashions and ever-changing landscaping.

What is a fun fact about you or something people wouldn’t know about you? 

I am afraid of flying in an airplane. I would rather drive to my destination.
