On the Road with Georgia's Appellate Courts

Both of Georgia's appellate courts have recently taken road trips out of Atlanta...

Supreme Court

alt On April 27, 2012, the Supreme Court of Georgia (at right) heard oral arguments before a crowd of 600 in the Thomasville Municipal Building.  The court travels to various locations each year to allow citizens the chance to witness the work of the court in person.  The crowd of high school students, local dignitaries, and interested citizens was the largest the Court has ever seen.  During the trip, the justices also served as Grand Marshals of the Thomasville Rose Parade.

Court of Appeals

altMeanwhile, one panel from the Court of Appeals of Georgia heard two civil cases in Walton County on May 2, 2012.  Presiding Judge Sara Doyle (center), Judge Gary Andrews, and Judge Michael Boggs heard the cases in the Monroe historic courthouse and answered questions from local high school students in observance of Law Day.  The event was sponsored by the Walton County Bar Association.
