Update on Jonesboro High School Mock Trial Team

By Michelle Barclay, Division Director, Communications, Children, Families and the Courts

In May 2016, the Jonesboro Mock Trial team, coached by  Judge John Carbo, State Court of Clayton County, won its seventh state title since 2002. They then travelled to Boise, Idaho in May to compete in the National Mock Trial Championship, where they finished 17th out of the 46 teams.
Next this team will compete in the Empire Mock Trial Competition which will be held at the Fulton County Courthouse in October 2016 with 13 teams (including seven from Georgia).
In February the Courts Journal featured the team (Clayton Judge Reflects on Mock Trial Successes) and we made a short five minute video of the student’s practice session for the competition which we could not show anyone, until after the competition.  Enjoy it now.
