• The Boys and Girls Club of North Central Georgia honored the memory of Juvenile Court Judge George J. Hearn. At its December 11, 2015, gala, the Boys and Girls Club presented the inaugural Honorable George J. Hearn Professional Award. Judge Hearn served on the Walton County Juvenile Court for 24 years and as President of the Council of Juvenile Court Judges. He founded the George Walton Academy and was a supporter of the Walton County Boys & Girls Club.
• On December 3, 2015, the City of College Park renamed its municipal court courtroom in honor of Judge Rowland Barnes who was killed while on the bench in Atlanta in 2005.  Judges from the Atlanta Judicial Circuit Superior Court were on hand for the dedication. Judge Barnes was a College Park resident, Atlanta Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge, and little league football coach.
alt• Chief Judge Wallace Cato (right), Superior Courts, South Georgia Judicial Circuit, was awarded the Council of Superior Court Judges’ 2016 Emory Findley Award.  Judge Cato was appointed in 1978 and served as President of the Council of Superior Court Judges in 1984.
The Emory Findley Award recognizes a judge who exhibits outstanding judicial service in all areas.  Judge Emory Findley, for whom the award is named, served as a superior court judge in the Atlantic Judicial Circuit from 1977 to 1995.

Judge Peggy Walker, Douglas County Juvenile Court, was honored on February 2, 2016 with Emory Law School's EPIC (Emory Public Interest Committee) Inspiration Award which celebrates members of the community who do extraordinary work in the public interest.
Presiding Justice P. Harris Hines, Supreme Court of Georgia, was named one of Georgia’s 100 Most Influential People by Georgia Trend Magazine in January 2016.

• On February 19, Chief Justice Hugh P. Thompson was honored by Mercer Law School with its Meritorious Service Award. Chief Justice Thompson is a 1969 graduate of Mercer Law.
