October and November 2018

The 2018 Star Award: Superior Court Judge James F. Bass Jr. was given this award by the Council of Accountibility Court Judges for his work with the Chatham County Drug Court. 

2018 Big Voice for Children Award: Presiding Judge LeRoy Burke III of the Chatham County Juvenile Court was recognized for his collaborative work at effective prevention and early intervention to make a long-term difference in kids' lives. 

Judge Iannazzone, Judge Nancy Bills, and Judge Bob Mock

2018 Ogden Doremus/Kent Lawrence Award: Judge Joseph C. Iannazzone of Gwinnett County State Court was presented the award on behalf of the Council of State Court Judges by President Judge Nancy Bills and Senior Judge Bob Mock (pictured) .

 

 

Champion of Justice Award: Effingham State Court Judge Ronald K. "Ronnie" Thompson was presented this award by the Georgia State Council of State Court Judges for his role in unsealing documents in a case that led to a conviction of a team doctor for abuse of 156 women and girl gymnasts. 

Charles L. Weltner Freedom of Information Award: Senior Judge James Bodiford was presented this award by the Georgia First Amendment Foundation. The award honored Judge Bodiford for improving the freedom of information in Georgia by keeping his courtroom open to the public and news media during several high profile trials. 

Judge Aaron Cohn Award was presented to Judge James Whitfield at the Council of Juvenile Court Judges Fall Conference. 

Tony Baldwin Award: Georgia Court of Appeals Judge Yvette Miller was presented this award by Mercer's Black Law Student Association for continuing to make strides and paths for diversity in the legal profession.  

Judicial Council/Administrative Office of the Courts HR Director Stephanie Hines was presented the Georgia Council of Court Administrators President's Award

Judicial Council/Administrative Office of the Courts Trial Court Liaison LaShawn Murphy was presented a Special Recognition Award by the Georgia Municipal Court Clerks Council.
