Council News

During late spring and early summer, the leadership of the state's judges' council change. Below is a listing of those changes:
 

Council of Superior Court Judges

The Council of Superior Court Judges’ new slate of officers took office on May 1, 2014: Judge Mary Staley (Cobb Circuit), President; Judge Brenda Weaver (Appalachian Circuit), President-Elect; and Judge Horace Johnson (Alcovy Circuit), Secretary-Treasurer.
 
Council of State Court Judges
 
The Council of State Court Judges’ new slate of officers will take office on July 1, 2014: Judge Charles S. Wynne (Hall County), President; Judge Wayne C. Purdom (DeKalb County), President-Elect; Judge Richard A. Slaby (Richmond County) Secretary; and Judge J. Kelly Brooks (Liberty County), Treasurer.
 
Council of Juvenile Court Judges
 
The Council of Juvenile Court Judges’ new slate of officers took office on May 1, 2014: Judge J. Lane Bearden (Cherokee Circuit), President; Judge John B. Sumner (Blue Ridge Circuit), President-Elect; Judge Benjamin Brinson (Atlantic Circuit) Vice President; Judge Patricia Stone (Eastern Circuit) Secretary; and Judge James R. Whitfield (Cobb Judicial Circuit), Treasurer.
 
Council of Probate Court Judges
 
The Council of Probate Court Judges’ new slate of officers took office on April 10, 2014: Judge Chase Daughtrey (Cook County), President; Judge Don E. Wilkes (Emanuel County), President-Elect; Judge Alice Padgett (Columbia County) First Vice President; and Judge Darin McCoy (Evans County), Secretary-Treasurer.
 
Council of Magistrate Court Judges
 
The Council of Magistrate Court Judges’ new slate of officers will take office on July 1, 2014: Allen Wigington (Pickens County) President; Judge Robert “Bob” Turner (Houston County) Vice President; Judge Kristina Hammer Blum (Gwinnett County) Second Vice President; Judge Glenda Dowling (Pierce County) Treasurer; and Judge Berryl Anderson, (DeKalb County) Secretary.
 
Council of Municipal Court Judges
 
The Council of Municipal Court Judges’ new slate of officers will be elected at their summer conference at Jekyll Island, GA, on June 25-27.
