Court Reporting Policies Amended by Judicial Council

Clarifying amendments to the Judicial Council Policies and Fees for Court Reporting Services in Criminal Cases were adopted by the Council at its February 27 meeting. The amendments to 2.1, Takedown and Transcript Filing in Criminal Proceedings, and 2.4, Business Continuity, responded to questions and proposals from superior and state court judges subsequent to adoption of the policies and fees in September 2014. The amended policies are effective immediately.

The Judicial Council defines and regulates the practice of court reporting in state trial courts. Production of the official court record is an essential business process contributing to court users’ access to and fairness in Georgia courts, and each court has the responsibility to manage that process.  The revised policies address the need to maintain business continuity of court proceedings, modern technology to encourage efficiency, and accountability for costs to county governments.
