Tom Gunnels, longtime court administrator in the east Georgia region, retired on August 29, 2014.  For 30 years, Gunnels oversaw the operations of the trial courts in the 10th Judicial District as District Court Administrator.  He retired from that position in 2009, then became the Superior Court Administrator in the Augusta Judicial Circuit. Shaun Brooks fills the vacancy created by Gunnel’s retirement
 
Judge James R. Osborne, Superior Court, Paulding Judicial Circuit, resigned on October 1, 2014. Judge Osborne was appointed to the bench by Gov. Sonny Perdue in 2005.
 
Judge Helen Hart, Chief Magistrate of Bleckley County, has announced her retirement effective November 1, 2014. Judge Hart has served as Chief Magistrate since her election to the bench in 2001.
 
Judge Karen H. Pitman, Probate Court of Monroe County, tendered her resignation, effective December 15, 2014. 
 
Judge Hulane E. George, Superior Courts, Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit, announced her retirement after 20 years on the bench.  In 1994, Gov. Zell Miller appointed Judge George as the first female jurist in the eight-county Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit. On December 31, 2014, Judge George will step down and intends to take senior status.
