alt• Judge Gary E. Jackson (left), Municipal Court of Atlanta, was awarded the Council of Municipal Court Judges’ (CMunCJ) President’s Award.  Judge Jackson, a 5th District Representative and co-chair of Legislative Committee of the CMunCJ, was recognized for his work in helping to pass several bills through the General Assembly and his participation as a seminar speaker for the Institute of Judicial Education (ICJE) at this years’ annual training session.
 
• Judge Carla Wong McMillian, Court of Appeals, received the Community Champion Award from the Asian American Legal Advocacy Center, Inc. (AALAC) of Georgia on September 20, 2013.  Judge McMillian is the first Asian Pacific American state appellate judge ever to be appointed in the Southeast.
 
• On September 28, 2013, Judge Horace Johnson, Jr., Superior Courts, Alcovy Judicial Circuit, was honored by the Newton County NAACP during its annual Freedom Fund Banquet in Covington.
 
alt• On October 3, 2013, Judge Dax Lopez (left), State Court of DeKalb County, was presented the Caminar LatinoJourney Award.  The Journey Award recognizes an individual, business, media company or organization that has demonstrated exemplary commitment and has made significant contributions in supporting families in their journey towards nonviolence.
 

• The Constitutional Officers' Association of Georgia (COAG) posthumously awarded Judge Greg Adams, Probate Court of Walton, with its COAG Member of the Year.

• Judge David Darden, State Court of Cobb County, was presented the 2013 Ogden Doremus/Kent Lawrence Award on October 17, 2013 by the Council of State Court Judges.  The Doremus/Lawrence Award honors an outstanding state court judge who demonstrates significant contributions to the judiciary, the practice of law, and his community.
