#AskGAJudges, a Twitter Town Hall

On September 15, the JC/AOC sponsored #AskGAJudges, a Twitter Town Hall to celebrate Constitution Day. Presiding Judge Stephen Dillard (@JudgeDillard) and Judge Carla McMillian (@JudgeCarla), both of the Court of Appeals, spent an hour answering questions about Georgia courts, being a judge, and general advice for law student and lawyers.

JC/AOC staff engaged in #AskGAJudges through its own Twitter handle @GACourts, answering some questions beyond the hour that the judges were unable to answer. Judge Steve Teske (@scteskelaw), Juvenile Court of Clayton County, answered questions that were asked by an 8th grade Georgia History class in Clarke County.

To keep things moving, the Judicial Council/AOC created some ground rules and categories of questions that the judges were willing to answer. See http://georgiacourts.gov/content/askgajudges.  Twitter users were asked able to submit questions prior to the event and many of the Twitter accounts for the state's law schools submitted questions.

Plans are in the works for another Twitter Town Hall to be held in conjuction with Law Day in May 2017.
