Judge Herbert Phipps

Judge Herbert E. PhippsFormer Chief Judge Herbert Phipps, Court of Appeals, has been recognized by two groups in recent months:

On February 16, the Atlanta Bar Association recognized Judge Phipps for his civil rights and judicial leadership. Judge Phipps served on every lower Georgia court from magistrate, juvenile, state to superior. Prior to his judicial work, Phipps helped desegregate Atlanta's Fox Theatre, among other accomplishments, and has been a civil rights leader in Georgia.

Judge Phipps was recognized for his for his past 17 years as a member of the Georgia Court of Appeals and his 45 years as a champion for civil rights by the Albany office of the Georgia Legal Services Program during the group’s Special Friends for Justice recognition event on March 16.

 

 

 

Council of Probate Court Judges

The Council of Probate Court Judges recognized two of its members at its meeting on April 19, 2017 in Macon, GA. Judge Alice W. Padgett, Columbia County, was awarded the 2016 Outstanding Probate Judge of the Year and Judge T.J. Hudson, Treutlen County, received the Council's Special Recognition Award.

The Council of Magistrate Court Judges recognized several members at its meeting on April 24, 2017 in Augusta, GA.

Judge Alan Harvey

Senior Judge Alan Harvey, DeKalb County - Lifetime of Achievement

 

Judge Connie Holt

Judge Connie Holt, Morgan County - Kim Warden Humanitarian Award

 

 

Judge Allen Wigington, Pickens County - Magistrate of the Year.
