Dear Courts Journal readers, the entire judicial branch of Georgia is mourning the loss of former Chief Justice Hines.  Michelle remembers his theme of “we need to love each other more” which came up frequently as a point of discussion last year before he retired.  We are grateful for the moving stories that many of you have sent us about Chief Justice Hines.

Georgia's Court Administrators Expanding Their Horizons at the October GCCA Annual Conference


The Georgia Council of Court Administrators (GCCA) Annual Conference took place in Savannah from October 22nd to the 24th. GCCA brings together Georgia’s court administrators for training and professional development. The October conference had over 100 attendees from all over the state.

Eliminating Barriers to Justice, Keynote Speaker: Chief Justice Harold D. Melton

The annual “Eliminating Barriers to Justice” conference at Georgia State University College of Law—offering continuing legal education training for lawyers, judges and administrators on providing courtroom access to defendants, victims and litigants with disabilities—featured a keynote speech from Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Harold Melton.
