May is the month of Law Day celebrations and commencement activities.  Chief Justice Melton has been invited all over the state to deliver Law Day keynotes and we got a few video clips of his visit to Valdosta -- see a summary of Law Day events from around the state which we heard about in May.   We also read news articles that Sr. Judge George M. Meet JC/AOC's Database Administrator: Willie Alcantara

Willie Alcantara is AOC’s Database Administrator. He works “behind the scenes” to make sure databases are up to date and running smoothly.

Willie is a native New Yorker. He grew up in Washington Heights and the Bronx, then graduated from City College of New York with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.  After college, Willie moved to Burlington, Vermont to work for IBM, creating computer “chips” (integrated circuits). 

Home Grown Resiliency

Picture a little boy who endured multiple traumas in his early childhood including testing positive for drugs at birth and being severely beaten at the age of two.   Now, picture this same child as a well-spoken, outgoing preteen having the resiliency to overcome adversity plus the cognitive ability to successfully advocate for his desired future – to live with his foster family permanently.
