New Forum for Discussing Technology Issues a Success

Regional Justice Technology Expo welcomes over 300 justice professionals to Georgia

 On April 19, 2012, the Regional Justice Technology Expo (RJTE) opened with 340 attendees from Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, and Texas at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, GA.  


Carley Takes Reins of Supreme Court

Twenty-two years after he stepped down as Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals of Georgia, Justice George H. Carley was sworn-in as the twenty-ninth Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia.  On May 29, 2012, Justice Carley became the first jurist to have served as presiding and chief judge of the Court of Appeals and Presiding and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.  


The Ten Commandments for Judicial Elections

The campaign season is in full-swing for candidates for judicial office.  It is important to remember that, as far as campaigns go, judicial elections are different.  Campaign conduct for both sitting judges and candidates for judicial office is governed by the Code of Judicial Conduct (CJC), particularly Canon 7.  Ethical guidelines concerning political activity apply to both part-time and full-time judges.
