alt• On November 26, 2012, Gov. Nathan Deal administered the oath of office to Judge Robert D. Leonard as judge of the superior court in the Cobb Judicial Circuit.  Judge Leonard has served on the State Court of Cobb County since his appointment by Gov. Sonny Perdue in December 2010.  Judge Leonard fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge George Kreeger in September.

Supreme Court Issues New Jury Composition Rule

By now most people involved with Superior and State Courts are familiar with the new master jury lists that have expanded by the hundreds and even thousands the number of eligible jurors within each county.  Under the direction of the Supreme Court, the Council of Superior Court Clerks implemented a new method of combining the state voter list and drivers’ license records to create a master jury list for each of the 159 counties in Georgia.  The new lists have had the impact that was intended by the 2011 jury list reform, that is, to make our juries as inclusive as possible.

Five Judges Honored with Benham Community Service Awards

The 14th Annual Justice Robert Benham Awards for Community Service recipients were recently honored at the Georgia Bar Center on February 26, 2013.  The awards, named for Justice Robert Benham of the Supreme Court of Georgia, honor lawyers and judges who have made outstanding contributions in the area of community service.
