The summer months were especially busy for Georgia's Appellate Courts with two retirements and three appointments and a portrait ceremony.

Judicial Council Recommends Two Judgeships

On September 21, the Judicial Council met in Forsyth, GA.   Chief Justice Carol W. Hunstein, Supreme Court of Georgia, presided over the meeting which was held at the State Offices South at Tift College.

Juvenile Court Judges Lead Teams in LaGrange Educational Summit

On July 19-20, 2012, modeling a state and national School-Justice Partnership, the Administrative Office of the Courts and the Georgia Department of Education (GDOE) brought together 23 judicially-led teams from across the state at LaGrange College to learn and discuss how to improve educational outcomes for children involved with the juvenile courts.  The teams — composed of a juvenile court judge, a school administrator, a representative from the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), a representative from the Department of Juvenile Justice or the court staff handling delinque
