While researching Georgia’s Teen Courts, we got the chance to talk with Judge Robin Shearer, the Chief Judge of the Juvenile Court of Athens-Clarke County. Here is a summary of the conversation:

 

Teen Courts Seek to Provide Juveniles with a Jury of Their Peers across the State

Kari Poss (in selfie below with teen court participants) worked as a probation officer with the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) for years before she heard about a mock trial program for teens. “I started reading and learning more about it, and I became so interested in the program,” she says. Not long after that, she found her life moving in a new direction.
